Editor / Paginator / Design & Layout at The Express, (8/2019-current)

Now, my job duties have grown and expanded to encompass most of the paper, in some way or another. I select and edit content, lay it out on the page, and do light graphic design work in Photoshop to make special section covers and banners.

Editorial Assistant / Night Editor at The Express, (2/2019-8/2019)

Position shifted to being in charge of finishing the last couple of pages at night, procuring late news, and managing the upload of our content to our website via WordPress.

I conducted interviews, sat in on community meetings, and constructed articles by assignment, as well as generated several sections of the paper and helped with administrative duties.

Soft Skills:      

General: I specialize in attention to detail and spacial/situational awareness, and my ability to learn new skills and duties is top-notch. I possess skills in communication, leadership, empathy, small group facilitation, and effective time and resource management — in order to make it through an average day, I have to be able to multi-task efficiently.

Informational Technology: I use InDesign (previously Quark) for hours a day, and know enough in Photoshop to be dangerous. I have two decades’ worth of computer skills, both in hardware and software. I’m experienced in a wide array of programs, including Google Drive and other cloud-based options; multiple Office suites including Microsoft, OpenOffice, and AbiWord; and several VoIP options such as Skype, Discord, and Ventrilo.

Social Media: I have curated a variety of forms of social media for my own use, including Twitter, Facebook, and a personal website, based out of WordPress.

Writing: Samples are available upon request, beyond which I have one thing to say: Oxford comma or bust.
